Why One-Way Interviews Are a Major Job Scam
It makes the person uncomfortable and is equivalent to talking to the back of someone’s head. Job seekers deal with enough and to add this is wrong.
Furthermore, fake companies and scammers do this to secretly record your responses to the interview questions, and they’ll repurpose the footage to apply as you for other positions.
They’ll also apply as fake stateside candidates but be off camera using some understandable reasons why such as:
· Anxiety
· Distrust
· Discomfort
· Accessibility
· Technical issues
· Privacy concerns
· Lack of confidence
· Appearance worries
· Discrimination fears
All the above are plausible reasons to be off camera, but scammers abuse what’s plausible to trick job seekers and companies into giving personal and payment information and in the more complex and bold scams, jobs.
Don’t ever have an interview where the team or person interviewing you is off camera without a plausible reason. And if they can’t be on camera, it should be a phone call because if you’re on camera, your likeness can be stolen and you’d never know.
Stay vigilant.
