Meet The Profiler, Jay Jones
I spent years working to become a copywriter and ultimately landed my dream job at an ad agency. Nearly three years in, I was suddenly laid off in December of 2023, two weeks before the birth of my daughter. Fear, lost confidence, depression and great sadness loomed. I heard the rumblings about how bad the job market was but had no idea how bad until I started looking for work.
The minute I posted the #opentowork banner on LinkedIn I was met with a lot of attention from recruiters and hiring managers. I thought this was a wonderful 180 from what I heard about the long time people experienced looking for work. I realized something was off about the messages and emails I got from these people.
All of them were overly flattering, urgent and wanted my resume immediately. I just blocked the scammers and kept trying to find work. However, the more I ignored the scammers the more I felt the call to act against them. I’ve always believed if you have the power to help people, then you help them.
I worried about being perceived as a malcontent or someone who just wanted to start drama but ignored those lying thoughts. Weighing the potential costs to my career, I set out to expose the extensive fraud in the job market because doing nothing would be a greater crime.
Now, I’m known globally, been covered in NBC News and Yahoo News and have taken down 32,639* fake jobs and over 7,000 fake profiles off LinkedIn to date.
I relentlessly defend all real professionals and businesses because scamming will not be tolerated any longer.
*This number will update in real-time as I take more fake jobs down.
